WELCOME TO BIG SKY
A TOWN BUILT ON HISTORY
A beautiful place such as Big Sky, Montana, didn't come from the easiest of beginnings. However, I'm sure the collective census will agree that everyone wants to make sure their beloved town stays beautiful. Today, that still rings true and would make good ol' Clovis Deveraux proud to see what it has become since the town created where he served as the first mayor of Big Sky! And no matter where you look, you can see the beauty in the town. From the view of the mountains to every store on Main Street, there's always something to see. If you ask me, someone who was born and raised in Big Sky, I'm always seeing something different even after all these years!
Big Sky was founded in 1893 and has seen its fair share of ups and downs, but mostly the city has done nothing but grow into what it is today: 131 years later. Visitors to Big Sky can enjoy the perks of living in a friendly place with access to a top-notch ski resort for their recreational enjoyment. There are plenty of places to shop and eat as well as an amazing theater! There's truly something to always peak your interest while you visit! Locals have the added bonus of enjoying exceptional schools for their children in Kindergarten through 12th grade! Once they're done with their first 12 years of school, they can move on to the award-winning Big Sky University to further their education while staying close to home!
No matter what it is though, Big Sky has it all that one would need or even possibly want! I know that I don't plan on leaving this beautiful place. As I was born and raised here, I aspire to also make sure my children and their children are also born and raised right here in this beautiful piece of Montana!

I'm the caretaker of the family. I love taking care of my husband, children, nieces, and nephews. My nieces and nephews all have rooms at my home, and know they are always welcome here. They carry the Falcon blood and so does the estate with the blood sweat and tears of their ancestors that built this beautiful home. I make sure Marisol knows she can come home at any time she wants even though she is happily married to her husband and loves her little family she has made. I never had any sisters and being friends with the twins growing up Marisol was always around and she became my baby sister too. I'm usually a happy go lucky woman, but bring up Solstice and you can get my goat for sure. I can definitely go off about that woman. I do have a bit of a temper especially if one of my babies is threatened.

History
The Knight and Summerhill families were part of those original inhabitants of Big Sky, Montana. Stories passed down from one generation to another. My parents also stuck with the tradition of Native American names. So I was born Sleeping Fawn and somehow my English name became Carmelita. I liked my names, but my parents still called me Sleeping Fawn. I am their youngest of seven. I have six older brothers who are all High Mountain Rangers. They were named Broken Arrow, Thunder Spirit, Winter Hawk, Moon Dancer, Rising Moon, and Whispering Wind. They have English names as well but usually go with a variation of their Native American Name. So on the mountain they are called Arrow, Thunder, Hawk, Dancer, Moon, and Wind. I gave all my children English names so as not to confuse them, but as they grew older some of them asked their grandparents to give them a Native American name.
I was a beautiful, and good baby my mother says. I loved playing outside and looking up at the bright blew sky she said. Birds would come up to me and sing to me. Other animals would be curious of me and become my friend my mother said. If she or my father or even my brothers approached they would all take off. As I grew older I would wander up the mountain and join my friends playing with them. It was on one of those journeys that I met the Falcon twins up there and we played together from that day onward. The three of us grew up together calling ourselves the three musketeers from a book that their mother had read to us one summer. The three of us were inseparable.
There was one girl that I did not get along with. She was always showing off her new pretty dresses or whatever her parents spoiled her with. That was Solstice Nightingale. She was spoiled rotten. When we were about five I had gotten a new dress, and we had went to the Sunday gathering. Mom said to be careful in my new dress. I had run into Solstice and her little followers even at that young age. She had made fun of my new gingham dress that I was so proud of. My mom had made it for me with material she had let me pick out. It was red and white checkered. I had moved to go on and she pushed me back into a puddle of mud. I remember crying and knowing I was going to be in trouble for ruining my new dress mom had worked so hard on for me. Suddenly Cavalier was there along with Cobalt and they helped me out of the puddle of water. They took me to the lake and we tried to get the dress clean, but it didn't work. When I finally appeared later my mother was disappointed in me and I felt bad. I wasn't a tattletale though so I didn't tell her what had really happened. I just let her yell at me and stopped the twins from telling her the truth.
Things escalated with Solstice after that and we definitely became nemesis. She was always trying to be sweet and nice with the twins Cavalier and Cobalt, but they usually didn't fall for her tricks thankfully. Sometimes though Cobalt would get swayed by her, but he usually came back to us. In second grade Solstice and I got into a knockdown drag out fight. Our older brothers and the twins trying to pull us apart. I went home bloody that day, and somehow it got all blamed on me as usual. Solstice had cried and put on a show blaming it all on me. She had been the one who started it, and the twins tried telling the teachers and principal that, but they didn't listen. So I was the one who got suspended for a week. A whole week off wasn't fun as I had to help mom with stuff and do extra chores for my punishment. I swore I'd get even with Solstice for this.
Like my older brothers I got a mini bike when I turned four. All six of them were surrounding it along with my father as if I were some porcelain doll they were trying to protect. With a sigh I started up the bike before dad could even tell me how, and I was off. My brothers in the way jumping and rolling away on the ground to get out of my way. Since then I haven't slowed down. I knew enough already at four having been given rides by my dad and older brothers to know how to make the bike go. Balance just came natural to me. Mom said I about gave her a heart attack riding off like a bat out of hell, but she hadn't been able to stop laughing at my older brothers who were picking themselves up disgruntled and dusting the dirt off of them. Wasn't long before they were on their bikes tailing me for a change.
I couldn't wait for the day to get to ride a dirt bike. I was more than ready to start doing motocross like my older brothers. I was more than bummed when Cavalier and Cobalt shot up that summer in height and were already way ahead of me getting their dirt bikes. When the day finally came mom told me to let dad at least explain things to me this time. That it would make him feel good. So I did just that giving dad the chance to explain things. I was chomping at the bit to take off, but I held it in letting dad have his moments like he did with my older brothers. I was the last of his babies after all. When he finally let me go I was off around that track. To my dismay I laid the bike over once, but I got it right back up after hearing the groans from Cobalt and Cavalier who were watching me. That was the first and last time I laid a bike over. I became a real contender in motocross too even beating Cavalier and Cobalt once in a while to my delight. They hadn't let me win either I'd seen it on their faces.
When I got to junior high I tried out for sports, and had fun playing them. My heart wasn't totally into them like it was Motocross. With my dad and some of my older brothers in the Wild Wolves MC it was a part of my life. My uncle Rising Son started up a dueling club around that time. Which I definitely joined and I loved it. I was the top of my class in dueling. Which angered Solstice who was trying to be better than I was.
During our eighth grade year Solstice who wasn't even supposed to be on the basketball court at the time plowed into me hard. I remember crashing into the stands, and everything going black. I woke up later in the hospital. I'd had a broken arm and ankle from the crash and a definite concussion. Solstice had made sure she got hurt too, and blamed the collision on me so of course since I was always the troublemaker growing up I got the blame for that too. I wasn't allowed to play Basketball after that. I was not happy cause I loved playing. At least I still had dueling club. Which she was bound and determined to take from me too. That I didn't have to worry about it as my uncle Rising Son was the sponsor for it, and it was her that got kicked out when he saw the illegal move that she made against me. I still have a scar on my leg from that one.
Our freshman year was when she sunk her hooks into Cobalt, who fell for her charms. How that was possible though I don't know and it felt like he was betraying our friendship. It was around that time that Cavalier and I realized that our feelings for one another went deeper than just friendship. When Solstice was forced to join us by Cobalt he kept her inline and there wasn't any funny business as he had warned her. I would like to say we became friends, but I just don't think that will ever be possible.
Our sophomore year Solstice came up behind Cavalier and cozied up to him where I could see. I was not a happy camper, and was about to claw her eyes out, but Cobalt was there and him and Cavalier handled it. Oh she acted like it was an accident not being able to tell them apart, but I could see right though it. How could she not tell them apart either was confusing to me. Yeah they were identical, but they were so different too. That was only the first time she pulled that little stunt, it's been on numerous occasions since then.
After graduating I happily became Cavalier's wife after he proposed to me up on the mountain at the waterfall. A waterfall that is hidden to all, but the descendants of the Shoshone. It's a coming of age journey for those with our heritage to find. Even I took my turn when I was sixteen and found it. I did it on my own, but my brothers and father were hidden there on the mountain watching me and looking out for me. Not that they needed too, my father had trained me in the ways of the High Mountain Rangers as well. I just chose to become a stay at home wife and mother like my own mother. We were blessed with our first child Camdyn and she was such a beautiful baby. A handful, but none the less I loved her with every fiber of my being. We had seven handsome sons after her. Our youngest just turned eleven.
There have been lots of ups and downs over the years, but we have gotten by on love. I've taken a lot of other children under my wing if they needed anything at all. Opening my doors to them. Cobalt and his children that still live at home have moved into Falcon's Roost and he's in the process of divorcing Solstice. I wanted to throw a party when he told us he finally was throwing her to the curb. That woman had no motherly bone in her body at all, and didn't deserve to be called a mother. I tried to show motherly love to her children letting them know if they ever needed anything I would be there.

Rayne sat away from the others somewhat. As it seemed like everyone was paired off but for him. Or they were with their friends. They’d been back from Sturgis for only a few days, and his dad, Rowdy, and Cain were throwing a bash at their place to try and take off some of the stress from what the trip had been. The Oklahoma boys and his dad, and Cain were taking turns getting up on the stage and singing. Oh and even Clyde had gotten up and sang. Their kids called out songs for them to sing, and they’d pick one from one of them. Of course his dad hadn’t asked him. It was mainly his baby brothers and once in a while Rafe or Ryder would yell out one.
Sturgis hadn’t really been any fun and he and his brothers had never gotten that tattoo that he designed. With all hell breaking loose everyone was on high alert the next week so his father and brothers had forgotten about it. He’d slept off and on that next week after what had happened to him. At least the stitches had gotten taken out finally so he didn’t have that discomfort. Though it still aches some, and Stephanie had said it probably would for some time as hard as he had been hit. It itched and bothered him, but he refrained from messing with it not wanting to get it infected as it was healing. The bruises were still there, but not as bad as they had been.
His dad’s attention today was either on Rosanna or his baby brothers most of the time. Feeling tired and left out he got up to head inside to his room. Rafe and Ryder’s attention was on their new found girlfriends. His gaze fell on Athena then who was talking to some of the other kids in the Jr Club, and there were a couple of guys that she was laughing and having fun with. He felt a pang in his heart, and weaved in and out of people to head inside. A stray tear ran down his cheek as he got inside, and he quickly brushed it away. He hissed in his breath at the pain when he had forgotten a moment about his wound. With a deep breath he headed up the stairs when he came up on them.
It wasn’t that much of a walk down the hallway to his room. The pounding of the music and the roar of the crowd outside was inside the house too, and it was giving him a headache. So all he wanted to do was lay down and take a nap. Opening his door a sound caught his attention. Looking up he gasped as there were a couple of guys in the room with their girls having fun on his bed as well as Simon’s bed. He gaped in shock for a few moments, before turning bright red not knowing what to do. He jumped when one of them yelled at him to get out. Quickly he ducked out his head pounding even more and realized then that he wasn’t alone upstairs as he saw others in the hallways too.
Looking up and down the hallways he noticed people going in and out of the theater rooms too. Walking down to his dad’s room he thought he might find some relief in there, but his dad must have locked his door. He tried Rowdy’s and Cain’s finding both of them locked. There was nowhere to go he realized, and he headed back down stairs trying not to cry. That wouldn’t look good in front of the sons around. There was a lot that he had no idea who they were. Including the ones that had been in his room having fun. Feeling lost and really left out he turned at the stairs and a drunk son knocked into him knocking him down. He saw stars when his head hit the corner of a baseboard. Laughter was heard, and then they ignored him. Sitting up he held his hand to his head, and when he pulled away there was blood on his head.
He cringed as his head was killing him even more now. Pulling himself up he hears something crash and shatter somewhere. His vision was a little blurry now, and he felt the blood trickling down his forehead. There had to be somewhere that he could go, and he thought of the garage. Making his way down that way he put the code into the door knowing it had been locked up for the party. His dad was taking any chances with his panhead with someone messing with it. Once the door shut behind him the sound was suddenly gone as the garage seemed to be soundproof. His ears were ringing though from the never ending sound from before.
With an unsteady breath he made his way over to his bike not even fighting the tears now. Sitting on it he laid his head down against the cool gas tank and the sobs came unable to stop them. He wasn’t feeling good at all, and when he lifted his head a while later there was a lot of blood on his bike. Had to be from where he had hit his head. A ride might help him feel better was his thoughts, and he got off pushing his bike out a side door, and around some bikes getting on his bike after making sure the garage was locked back up. If it wasn’t his dad, Rowdy, and Cain not to mention the others with bikes in there would kill him.
Starting his bike he rode down the driveway with the guards not even looking twice at him as there were sons and jr club members coming right and left. Tears were still streaming down his cheeks and there was still blood trickling down so his vision was still a bit blurred. Right now he didn’t care, he just had to get away, and hopefully clear his head. His dad and brothers as well as the others would probably never even notice he was gone. They were having too much fun. A while later he realized that the ride wasn’t helping, and he stopped not even knowing where he was. He hadn’t been this way yet. Only the other direction into town. The throbbing in his head was even worse, and all he wanted was his dad right now.
Turning his bike around he tried to wipe the tears away and the blood, but it wasn’t helping much. With a deep breath he headed back. With his vision obscured, he didn’t see the cloud of dust coming down a dirt road not far away. When he turned on the next road thinking he was going in the right direction the car came out of nowhere. Unable to stop he ran right into it, and he was suddenly flying through the air. The impact of hitting the road knocked him out.
